Fareed Came to Town!

August 28, 2012

If you don’t remember who Fareed is, he’s the awesome friend who let me stay with him in DC, and he surprised me at the finish of the Hollywood Half.

I pretty much adore him, and I definitely don’t say it enough. He’s a very lovely friend, and we had the loveliest time.

For one thing, we decided to be British for almost the entire weekend. We were constantly talking in our fun accents.

The best part was when we went and rode the Angel’s Flight – the shortest railroad in the world. We went to pay our fifty cents at the booth. We started by speaking how we usually do, but slipped back into our British accents halfway through the conversation. The man seemed pretty amused by us, and we cracked up after walking away and realizing what we’d done.

Having people come in from out of town is awesome, because they get excited about exploring. They make Los Angeles seem possibly a wee bit cool.

Us at the smallest park. We liked to make various faces in our different pictures. I think this one was pensive.

We went to the smallest state park on the Disney Concert Hall.

We found a secret food court (not secret at all – huge, and smack in the middle of a bunch of things downtown).

We got together with Amber and Garrick, and went to Olive Garden. Fareed relentlessly made us for wanting to go Olive Garden. “Oh, what a special L.A. thing to do – Olive Garden.” Once we got there, it was in the middle of this whole plaza with a Wendy’s, Target, and things of the like. That gave him more fuel to his fire, cracking up about how we had transported ourself to the midwest.

He loved it though. He did it in a sweet and loving way, not an “I actually hate this” way.

Basically, we just ran around L.A., made silly faces, talked in different voices, ate tons and tons of paste (never-ending pasta bowl, people!)

It was awesome. Being around Fareed is invigorating. He’s so fun to be around, interesting, caring, and compassionate. I had the best time, and I’m really glad he was here. It’s special when a great human being comes in and add a little energy into your normal day-to-day life.

We did have one more amazingly fun adventure while he was out here, which I’ll talk about on Thursday.

I'd love to hear from you! So whaddya say?
