I Am So Into Jerry Seinfeld All Over Again

June 24, 2013

Jerry Seinfeld publicity shotObviously, I love Jerry Seinfeld. (I’m a human being in America, am I not?)

Yes, I was technically sort of, I guess, a little too young to really love his show in real-time. But I remember watching it with my parents, and I definitely remember the whole hullabaloo of the finale. I loved it when it was on and I was cognizant of it.

I’ve definitely loved it through the years as I have probably seen every episode 4 times since it only shows 4,000/days on television.

So, what is the lovely Jerry Seinfeld up to now?

Well, in case you haven’t seen on twitter, he is doing this phenomenal show called Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. (It’s already in season 2. So, I hope you’re not sitting there reading this wondering, “Why is she telling me about this now when she’s the one so late to the party?”)

After watching my first episode (I started with Sarah Silverman), I watched 4 in one day.

It’s an interesting, cute show. And it’s perfect for anyone who doesn’t have a super long attention span. They do a lot of cuts. They change up the environment. They change camera angles a lot. They cut conversation into short snippets.

(I know I’m not describing it well, because that sounds sort of annoying. But it keeps the show moving like crazy. And it’s a fun little exercise for my brain to try to keep up with that without short-circuiting.)

The guests are great, but even just watching Jerry’s reactions to the guests is lovely.

(Watching Jerry with Larry David is kind of like watching Seinfeld. They seem just as sharp, quick, and comfortable with each other as they must’ve been when the show was on the air.)

I highly recommend checking out the show. Jerry uses the hashtag #CCC if you want to tweet about it.

CCCThen, as if Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee wasn’t good enough, go to JerrySeinfeld.com.

He has this personal archive thing there. He has this great page that explain what it is. And, in case you don’t want to go read it (even though it’s very short and to the point), he basically says that when he was 10, he fell in love with comedy on television.

And that he saved every television appearance he had. He’s picking out three bits a day that still amuse him, and this is for the 10-year-olds out there, with the hope of keeping the silliness going.

(How wonderful is that passion?)

One thing I love I love about this website is there are no archives. You go there, see his three short bits, and that’s it. If you miss ’em, you don’t get to go back.

I’m sure that can be a good or a bad thing. But, I kind of like it. (And I think it encourages me to go to the website more often than I would if it were easy to get archives.)

So, Jerry Seinfeld has these two great things that he’s doing. I love them both.

I definitely recommend getting into him all over again, if you’re not already.

I'd love to hear from you! So whaddya say?
