What Did You Think Of The Breaking Bad Finale?

Well, it ended, and I’m probably one of the last bloggers to talk about it. But now I am. So, let’s talk.

Spoilers a’comin.

Overall, it was great of course.

When he was talking to Skyler and started in with “everything I did – ” I almost had a stroke attack fueled by rage. I swear, if I have to hear that fake lie of a line one more time!…

Then, she voiced my incredible discontent. When he finally said, “I did it for me,” I literally applauded in my room. How long had I been waiting to hear that?!

So, yay for that.

Also, thank goodness precious Jesse is free. I adore him. I just hope he gets to truly be free. I hope he doesn’t get arrested. I hope that tape of his confession is destroyed since now he has no more leverage with Walt being dead and all. I do not want anything bad to happen to Jesse. And in my dreams, he is living an extremely happy life.

My only question about the finale is why did he warn Lydia that she had Ricin poisoning? Hadn’t she just been poisoned recently enough that she could still be saved? I don’t know the ins and outs of ricin, but considering her organs hadn’t seemed to have begun failing yet, could she not have just called 911? I didn’t think it was safe basically if he truly wanted her dead to give her that heads up. So, did he really want her dead? Do you know anything about this as to why he’d warn her, and if it mattered?

When it comes to the actual ending, at first, I didn’t love that Walt got to die so heroically – by shielding Jesse from a shot. However, he’d lost everything else. He didn’t even get to say goodbye to his son since his son hated him so much. Plus, the one thing that was actually important to him – that he’d be the one who’d take care of his family, and that they’d know he earned all the money – even that was taken away.

For the rest of his family’s life, they’ll think that Gretchen and Elliot were the ones who ultimately took care of them. That’s basically Walt’s absolute worst nightmare. So, because his worst nightmare came true (which I found very satisfying), I suppose it’s fine that he at least gets a heroic death.

I know I’ve been talking about Breaking Bad a lot, and sometimes that can ruin something – overanalyzing it. Also, I don’t feel I even really have the right as an amateur to critique professionals like this.

However, I like to think that you’ve made something really good when you make people care enough to want to deconstruct it, to have to talk about it, to feel so many emotions that they must be shared – even if sometimes that emotion is frustration.

So, hopefully Vince Gilligan loved that everyone has been talking at length about his show. He made some great television and I can’t wait to see what he does next.

I'd love to hear from you! So whaddya say?
