What Did You Think Of Million Second Quiz?

November 27, 2013

MillionSecondQuizWhile we’re talking about TV – I was looking through my blog post drafts and realized I never talked about Million Second Quiz. As a game show adorer, I felt I should probably add my two cents.

(Of course, I should’ve done that a million years ago, or whenever it was that the show aired. But you know, whatever.)

So, here’s what I thought: I love the idea of living, eating, breathing nothing but game shows for a week. So the idea of living in that dome/hourglass place was incredible.

(I actually helped as a mock contestant when they were figuring out this game and part of the deal with that was that I couldn’t be a real one… Not that I’m assuming I would’ve been… Just saying.)

However, what I really, really disliked (yeah, I said it) about this game show was how it was made to be more of a reality show than a game show.

You know how in reality shows things have to be overly-dramatic and overly sob-story? That’s what they did with this show. One guy hadn’t seen his family for something like 6 days when he was living in the dome and I wanted to be like “uh, 6 days? Are you joking me? It’s not like he’s 10. He’s a grown adult man. Most of us go months of years without seeing our families.”

I just felt like it was a bit heavy handed, which made it laborious to watch. The questions were fun. The backstories were not.

Also, how could I really like a show that did this to Ken Jennings?

So, meh. I dunno. That’s where I stood on it. But what did you think? Did you have any opinions on Million Second Quiz?

I'd love to hear from you! So whaddya say?
