That’s A Wrap On My Favorite Pants In The World

March 7, 2014

If you’ve been a reader of the blog, you may remember that I have a pair of pants I absolutely and truly adore.

I practically had a nervous breakdown when I cut off a part of them in Portland. These are my pants. My precious, precious pants.

I wore them for my first half marathon back in 2009. I wore them for my first full marathon. I wore them at the Goofy Challenge. They are always with me for the important events. Always.

But alas, my pants will be worn by me no more.

Oh so sad! I don’t even know how to write this goodbye blog posts re: my pants!

Recently, I’ve lost a good deal of weight – about 30-35 pounds. I haven’t talked about it all that much on the blog. I’m sure we’ll get to it. But the point is, it got to the point where my precious, precious, lovely, perfect pants started to fall off my butt as I ran.

I still ran in them for a while, doing makeshift fixes – trying to roll them, hold them up, etc. But it got to the point where they were just too big. That’s all there was to it. If I wanted to end a run still wearing clothes, I had to use different pants.

I went shopping while I was visiting Ohio, and ended up getting pants that I didn’t realize at the time were maternity pants!

You know what, though? Everyone always thought my old pants were maternity pants because of how they were made. So, maybe that’s the big secret to running in complete comfort. Maybe maternity running pants offer something better than other pants.

It doesn’t seem to say anything good about me when I lose 30 pounds and still end up with maternity pants! But, I’m embracing it.

The marathon will feel different without my favorite pants. I’ll miss you, old friend! The silver lining is, at least my new pants aren’t cut at the bottom! (Yay!)

I'd love to hear from you! So whaddya say?
