The Space Needle! (May 28, 2016)

June 11, 2016

A view of Seattle from the Space NeedleNow, I don’t want to poo-poo the Space Needle… ’cause it’s the Space Needle! And it’s cool!

…But I was totally spoiled by Columbia Tower.

With the Space Needle, you stand in line for a while to get a timed ticket… Then, you wait around for a while – maybe shop or whatever while you wait for your window.

Then you wait in another long line to get to the elevator…

From that line, you can see the gift shop below and do a bit of people watching if you want. And you can see a wall full of facts to your left. It’s decorated like how we’d think of the future from the past… I suppose it kind of reminds me of some vintage Disney stuff – like how they saw the future from the 1960s.

And then you get to the top.

Once on top, you can walk all around indoors or outdoors. There are a bunch of views, of course. And there’s a little cafe and some tables, in case you get hungry…

And then, once you feel like you’ve seen Seattle, you get to wait in another (super long) line to get down the elevator.

So, while the Space Needle is cool and a touchstone of Seattle, it’s kind of an excuse to wait in line for 2 1/2 hours of your life…

Please, though, if you love the Space Needle, feel free to argue with me in the comments! Thanks!

I'd love to hear from you! So whaddya say?
