Thanks so much for coming to my blog!
I’m Aurora (as you probably guessed)!
This blog started when I ran 52 half marathons in 52 weeks after open-heart surgery for a weird congenital heart defect (Wolff-Parkinson White).
(That inspired more “52 in 52 weeks” projects you can see if you scroll down to check ’em out!)
I also won a car on The Price is Right (and lost a trip to Mexico on Let’s Make a Deal).
Currently, I’m completing Project 882 – 882 race miles in a year to represent the 882 Americans sexually assaulted every day.
Thanks again for visiting! Stick around, and read today’s post (to your left), or check out the projects (below), and feel free to contact me – let’s be friends! 🙂
Great piece. Thanks for sharing! I hand’t thought about the Han/Leia scene that way before. (To be fair, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen Empire Strikes back and I was always more focused on Luke vs. Vader than the romance thing.) Great point too about the link between sexual conservatism and sexual assault–and one that’s backed up be international studies on sexual assault frequency.
Oh man, and I’ll never look at the kissing sailor photo the same way. :-/ (Had never seen that one right before.)
Thanks for reading! I’m so sorry it took me so long to get back to your comment!
I actually had never heard the thing about the link between sexual conservatism and sexual assault before the article. That one was fascinating (and of course frustrating and sad and also news) to me… I’m so interested in that it’s backed up by international studies… I might google some of those, but please send any you find interesting my way!
And I always knew I didn’t like the way Han treated Leia, but I never thought of it in terms of the way the article put it.
Thanks again for your comment!
