[Trying to give you a slight breath of fresh air in the midst of getting caught up on sexual assault posts… Here’s another unrelated one!]
So, I went to two different Cory Booker talks this weekend, because… well, he was having public talks, and Jersey’s not far. I was in town this weekend. So, I’m in, of course!
When I saw him at the first one, he was very nice to me, of course. It was nice, ’cause when I asked if he remembered me, he was all, “Of course! You’ve been with me back since when I was in the Mayor’s office!” I like being one of the OG supporters (from before he was a senator). (And I like that he remembers. Yay!)
When I went the second night, he said something silly like, “Didn’t I just see you yesterday? Hahaha. I’m kidding. I know you said you might stop by here.”
One of his staff members (I’d never met in person) even was like, “Aurora?” before I said anything, because he recognized me from twitter. (Oh goodness. These people know who I am. Let’s hope they like me!)
Anyway, I gave Cory just a little thank you card (that accidentally got smudged in the ride to Jersey! I didn’t realize the pen was so inky. Anyway, again. Let’s hope all these people like me, even with my smudged thank you card haha). An when I gave it to him, I was like, “Well, it says Cory on the envelope, but I didn’t know if I should say Senator Booker, or if we’re totally first-name-basis buds now… And he told me that of course we’re on first name basis!
So, in case you were wondering, it is official. Cory Booker and I are on first-name basis. So, I’m gonna go ahead and say we’re totally friends!*
(*Not in real, real, like, real, actual life. But uh, you know, kinda!)
