Picking up from yesterday –
So, as they were telling us about the wedges and everything, more people were getting hair/make-up done (and they were making sure they stayed included).
Then, they took us out to the Wheel.
And they explained some stuff to us, like the stuff that goes “upstairs” vs “downstairs.” And basically what that means is that if it’s on the little padded thing where you might rest your hands or whatever, that’s “upstairs” (so like, a wild card, a gift tag).
Downstairs would be like where the million dollar wedge, or things like that go. It’s where a full wedge is leaned against the thing below your score.
Everyone got to do practice spins, just to get a sense of the wheel.
It was made very, very clear that we were not to spin with a destination in mind and if they caught you doing it, you’d be in trouble. They encouraged us to spin pretty hard, you know, you don’t want it moving just a handful of wedges.
So, everyone got some turns at a practice spin.
They loved calling out if someone got Free Play, “Oh that’s Free Play!” as in “you know what to do, call a vowel.” (I feel like I’ve already talked about the Free Play thing enough, but it’s a strategy thing that’s talked about over and over. They obviously won’t make you call a vowel, but for some reason (that I still don’t fully completely understand, as I already explained my feelings on it), it’s encouraged!
And I know this is a bit of a short post, but I have just a specific thing that’s sticking in my brain that I’m gonna talk about in its own post, and I’ll do that tomorrow!
