So, in Mexico, I went out diving around La Paz with my instructor Chrissy!
She was really cool, and calm and interesting. One day on her vacation, she just straight up stayed in Mexico. She’s like “I don’t wanna go home.” Boom. Now, she lives there.
My favorite part is that, since transitioning from boat to water was a little hard for me, we would do this thing where we would exclaim “no estoy asustada!” [“I am not afraid!”] before we would jump in – because I was not gonna be afraid of going backwards off the boat!
My least favorite part of certifying is when you have to take your goggles off and let them fill with water, and then try to get the water out while you’re still underwater.
For some reason, water being trapped between your eyes and goggles makes me feel like I’m gonna drown.
That doesn’t make any sense. Your eyes don’t control anything about your breathing. And yet! It feels… again, I hate saying scary, because in Mexico, we’re not afraid… But if I’m being real, it was a little scary!
Yet, I did it! I passed all 4 of my dives. We logged them. And I am now an official scuba diver! Yay!
