So, a wee change of my original plans.
I’ve been trying to make sure I utilize every single day off down here. Obviously, it’s not every day you get a sweet, long gig where you’re paid to go out of the country for a while.
So, I’d set up my final scuba certification dive for this day!
…Aaaaaand then dum dum duuuuuuum [*scary chords*] I got an ear infection (oh no!).
I had felt a little off after my last scuba diving adventure, but I was hoping it was just a small thing like my ear hadn’t quite fully “popped” yet or whatever.
Because I worked nights, having a “day” off sooooort of kind of meant having two days off (or, at least, I tried to make it mean that). Like, if I had Wednesday night off, I tried to stay up Wednesday morning after I’d get off Tuesday night work and do something Wednesday, then sleep when I’d normally be in Wednesday and then do something Thursday before work as well. (Ya gotta fit it all in!)
So, on my Wednesday, I thought I’d head to Todos Santos for a bit, just to hang. The bus happened to drop me off close to a doctor. So, I was like, “you know what? Just to be absolutely safe, let me just pop in and cheeeeeck, because ears are important and I’m brand new to scuba-ing.
So, I stop off at the doctor. Maaaaaajor shout out to Mexico’s healthcare system. It costs nearly nothing to see a doctor, and it took practically no time either.
Anyway, wouldn’t you know it. I had an ear infection after all. Goodness gracious.
The doctor gave me a shot and some ear drops and said I couldn’t scuba for at least a week.
At that point, I was already down toward Cabo. I very sadly cancelled my scuba diving up in La Paz, and just thought, “if I’m already south, might as well go more south, since I’m not scuba-ing tomorrow!”
So, I jumped on a boat and made it to Cabo in time for a sunset cruise with Cabo Adventures (because I was getting a deal since I also bought the ziplining package for the next day – which, I’ll talk about tomorrow!)
