Visiting The Getty (With High School Buds!)

August 14, 2013

group at the gettyI think I’ve made it pretty clear on this blog how I feel about the amazing alums of my high school. (I adore them… so hard.)

There’s something about the people who went through the same theater program as I did that just makes me want to be around them.

I don’t know if special people pick the program, or the program makes special people. All I know is I’m incredibly lucky to be in that network.

So, Bronwynn came into town to see her sister. And a small get together emerged with a few of the same exact people from my theater teacher’s transition party!

(I told y’all a lot of us lived in Los Angeles. And now here we were, hanging out together!)

I’d never met the guy in the blue shirt before. He said he thought I looked familiar. Bronwynn pointed out that maybe he’d seen pictures of me on Facebook when all the memories were being posted with retirement stuff.

She was all, “Oh, she was in a lot. Really talented.” Can I just state for the record this is the second time she’s called me talented in the last couple of months?

She’s wildly talented! How is someone like her thinking someone like me is talented? (She’s too great.)

I know that in order to be friends with these people, I need to stop treating them like legends of theater (which they are). But, it’s so hard, ’cause I’m so overwhelmed with their awesomeness.

Seriously, we went the Getty! Who am I to go to the Getty? I’m not a wildly cool person who hangs out around art and architecture – but I am when I hang out with these wonderful people!

The group was so smart. And so very quick. Nate always knows just the right remark to say. He’s so funny. I’d love to see him improv – though I guess I kind of do, just in real life…

(Best of all about Nate, he’s now following me on twitter! :-))

(And side story I kind of thought was funny. As I was out with her daughters, my high school theater teacher called me to say hello. That family’s the best.)

The Getty was beautiful. But, any place would’ve been beautiful when I was hanging out with this bunch.

I'd love to hear from you! So whaddya say?
