My First BMI Weekend! (September 20-21, 2015) – Part 3 (Going To The First Class)

October 25, 2015

Picking up from last time –

Welp, I’m staying in the ghetto!

I got the cheapest hotel available in Jersey, and as the cab driver drove me out, he said, “You’re gonna stay here? If I were a young woman, I’d run away from this place as fast as I could.”

When I went to check in, the front desk person was surrounded by bulletproof glass. This is a little crazy… Like, where am I?

Oh well. At this point, it’s into the morning. The sun’s shining. And I’m just gonna sleep and assume I’m gonna be just fine. (Spoiler alert: Obviously I’m fine as I’m writing you now.)

One great thing about this hotel is that they let me check in super early. I think I was in my room by something like 8:30am!

I took a shower and fell asleep until it was time to get dressed and get out of there.

I take the train in to midtown, and once I get to Penn Station, I grab a Planet Smoothie (one of my favorite things in this world).

As I walk down the street, I leave my dad a voicemail telling him how happy I am in the moment. I talk about how I’m in my favorite pink dress, drinking my absolute favorite treat, walking to the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop (that I’ve been trying to get into for 6 years!).

This moment is like a fairy tale.

And no matter what happens from here – with the competition and stress and hard-ness of the program… in this moment, it’s the dream. And as sort of lame as it sounds, I just want to soak it all in as I walk down the street in the greatest city in the world.

And that’s what I did on the whole beautiful trip down to BMI.

(Randomly, some model-type guy on the subway even told me I was cute lol! (That sounds like in some contexts it could’ve been creepy, but the guy said it in a nice respectful way. :-P))

It was a beautiful day.

And this is where I’ll pick up next time.

I'd love to hear from you! So whaddya say?
