Boy oh boy, I’m trying to catch up and I don’t even remember when this was! haha
But it was fun. I did a tiny little read/sing through of everything just to see it in order and with different people, and get an audience’s perspective – which was SUPER helpful!
Originally, the show was two acts. And people helped me to see they don’t need the second act at all actually. The way it used to work was the main story was in the first 1. Then there was intermission. Followed by basically her ‘aftermath’. And people thought it was enough for them to see her main story.
The show is about domestic violence. So, even though I try my best to inject as much humor and energy as possible, it’s a little heavy. And they couldn’t take much more than act 1. They made is super clear they could definitely take act 1. That wasn’t too much. It was just perfectly enough.
I was grateful to the actors and musicians who participated and the people who came and gave great notes!
