Going Backward? Transcribing Again (Union!)? (Early Mid 2013)

February 5, 2021

Picking up from last time –

When I got the call to be a transcriber again, I took the job for a lot of reasons.

For one, I needed a job. Also, this was a union transcriber gig! (There aren’t many of those.) So, I got to join the editors guild, and make a sweet amount of money (as far as transcribing was concerned). I got to work my dream night shift in a place pretty close to home and very easily accessible. Plus, I got to work for a boss for whom I knew I really enjoyed working.

The job was lovely. (It was the one the Ben and Jerry’s truck visited.) My boss really trusted me and gave me some extra responsibilities, making me the lead transcriber.  It also was a show about emergency medicine, so the subject matter was really interesting. That’s not always the case with what you’re working on. So, it’s a gift when you can get into the subject matter.

I worked that job until the show ended, which was sometime around early June (2013). [Side note to place us in time: That June was the June of my theater teacher’s party.]

During June, I was telling my friends my show had ended, trying to get the word out and everything.

And this is where I’ll pick up tomorrow!

I'd love to hear from you! So whaddya say?
