“A Quiet Place”

March 20, 2021

[Another post I drafted when I was on break from the blog. Here, have it now!]

I just saw A Quiet Place, and I am so moved, I needed to say something.

It is just as phenomenal as everyone says it is. It is terrifyingly heart-pounding. AND it’s so moving. I had no idea how super emotional it was. I sobbed so hard – and so unexpectedly, which really made it all the better.

The twists and turns! Loved! I loved all of it.

It’s the kind of movie that makes you just sit there for a minute at the end. It’s still all hitting you. (And at the end of my screening, they had a small “making of” about it. They should do that at the end of all movies. It was awesome.)

And not only do I love it on its own, as a movie. I love that John Krasinski was able to come up with this specific, interesting, riveting story and shepherd it through to what we have now. I love that we get to see that he’s not just “that guy from the office.” He has a depth of creativity that produced something so exceptionally unique.

(He’s obviously not the only comedy guy who’s done this, as Jordan Peele semi-recently did Get Out, which was also a masterpiece.)

And it’s nice to see that people are more than we think they are.

I’m just really inspired. The Quiet Place helped me to remember that there are suuuuper original stories to tell.

And it was a great example of something you get lost in. There is no world outside of that movie theater when you watch A Quiet Place.

Anyway, if you’ve been putting it off, I super encourage you to get to the theater ASAP. (And everyone is right that seeing it in a theater will enhance the experience so much. So, go before it’s too late. It’s exceptionally worth it.)

And now, I just feel a burning desire within me to create something. Thanks, John Krasinski. Can’t wait to see what he does next!

I'd love to hear from you! So whaddya say?
